Around the Table Workshop: Expand Your Intercultural Horizons
Do you interact with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds in your workplace, school, or ministry setting? Are you engaging them with appropriate cultural sensitivity? What if you could discover your personal tendencies in relating intercult-
urally and learn to improve your ability to relate well, identify conflicts and respond with insight and understanding?
Start that journey towards intercultural relational competence through a private assessment of your current orientation and discover a pathway that leads to increased confidence and ability to handle intercultural tensions. Northwest invites you to participate in the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) to help you gain intercultural awareness, identify your personal level of intercultural competence, and discern a pathway towards increased relational skills in unfamiliar settings.
You will:
- receive further information about the IDI, which includes online introductory videos to view.
- receive a link to fill out the inventory near the beginning of April (it takes about 30 minutes to complete).
- receive, via email, the results of your assessment along with a proposed development plan. You will receive this information before the explanatory seminar.
- receive a Zoom link to attend an online explanatory workshop on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 1:00-4:00pm. The seminar provides an essential explanation about the IDI continuum, which the assessment is based on.
- have a 30-45 minute online one-on-one consultation with a qualified administrator who will explain your personal orientation and give insights towards a development plan. This will be scheduled following the seminar. Your assessment is kept personal throughout the process, apart from the qualified administrator (QA).
- receive an invitation to attend the Competence as Intercultural Change Agent (CICA) module called “IDI: Working the Plan” to continue developing your intercultural skills in January, 2025 (earn an additional Northwest Seminary & College micro-credit for module completion).
Offered by IDI Qualified Administrators: Mark Naylor, PhD, Jonathan Numada, PhD,Byung Suk Kim, DMin
